Arizona State Championship Old Time Fiddlers Contest. The
next contest will be held on September 27th & 28th 2008. This
will be the 38th year it has put on. Fiddlers from all over
Arizona come to play at this contest and the winners are sent
to Weiser, Idaho to play in the nationals. We have many
different divisions including: Small Fry ages 3-9, Junior-Junior
ages 10-12 Junior ages 13-17, Young Adult ages 18-39, Adult
ages 40-64, Senior ages 65+, Trick Fiddling, Fancy Fiddling,
Twin Fiddling, Cross-tuned Fiddling, and of course there is a
Championship division made up of the top 18 from the age
divisions. There are sometimes bands that play to entertain
between divisions and during lunch. We have many different
kinds of vendors that come every year. There is a gospel hour
on Sunday that is free to everyone. This contest is put on by
the Payson Fiddlers Committee and co-sponsored by the Town
of Payson.
