| Nelson is a devoted husband, father, and a Christ loving bible Christian. He is a second-generation Arizona native with a long-standing appreciation for old time fiddle, bluegrass, and bluegrass gospel music. He has worked in Parks and Recreation for the town of Payson for 16 years and has assisted in the production of many festivals and musical events during that time. Nelson considers himself a personal friend and admirer of the late Verti-lee Floyd and enjoyed many years of working with her on this event. She is greatly missed. Nelsons hobbies include: (besides this event) many outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, fishing, white water rafting, and hunting. Rumor has it that Nelson has even been known to pick the banjo, a little, when no one is looking. |

| Both of these co-chairmen are dedicated to keep this Payson tradition alive and hopefully enhance its contributions to the community, both culturally and charitably. A goal for both of them is to make a contest Verdi-lee would have been proud of. |
